It started ok but then I realized that I was not able to save wherever I wanted. If I die before I beat the castle, I will be brought back to the starting point of the level….The Quick Save just doesn’t work effectively at all. This really frustrates me and I decided to stop and sell the game :-(

This game does not utilize the Wii’s graphics capabilities at all. The characters are small and the controller is confusing to use. Think this is still a great product? It is already selling used after a few days from the release date.

In Mario sidescrollers of the past you could pretty much blast through the first few level with no issues and then it started getting really hard in the second half. Well I can tell you that this game is fairly tough even the beginning. I was pretty suprised how tough even the second world was. So this easily gets the award for the most difficult of the Mario sidescrollers. You have to be very deliberate and watch your step in each of the levels. It’s like that Wile E Coyote cartoon where he puts on the batman suit and is flying along with no problem and then all of sudden he smashes into the side of a cliff. But still, this is as fun as any of the other mario games – maybe even moreso.

Now that being said, AT FIRST it seemed like this game was a carbon copy of the previous one but there are lots of distinctions between this and super mario bros ds. Namingly the characters, some of the obstacles you have to negotiate – things like that.

Another thing is that it appears that this game is LOADED with secrets left and right. But I usually don’t take shortcuts because I want to run through the whole thing first, then go back and look for the secret stuff.

I was so excited. I remember Mario from when I was a kid, it was the big “thing”. I am glad I rented this from the video store first, I find it boring and frustrating. As a previous reviewer mentioned, you restart from the beginning of the castle if you die.

I much prefer the active games like Wii Fit and the Sports that came with my Wii.

I played this game to world 8. I reloaded my save game a couple times and gave it another try over the course of a day. The last time I loaded I was met with an error that my data file was corrupted. I lost all of my save games, and I’m fuming over it. Backup your files, if you can. Nice bug, Nintendo. (I’m not the only one btw, there are others on the Internet having the same problem).
